Kentucky Track & Field Wins Six Events At EKU Spring Meet

RICHMOND, Ky. — Kentucky Track & Field competed at the EKU Spring Meet hosted by Eastern Kentucky University on Friday.

The Wildcats won six events with an additional 11 top-five finishes.

UKTF earned wins in the women’s 200 meters, 400 meters, 400-meter hurdles, javelin throw, and the triple jump while the men secured a win in the high jump.

Three Wildcats in Asha Pierre-Antoine, Ava Alexander, and Devin Sealey won the first events of their careers.

The Wildcats will split the squad this week as they compete in the Texas Relays, Battle on the Bayou, and the Stanford Invitational from March 27-30.

SPRINTS & HURDLES

100M

WOMEN – Freshman Jaemari Allen finished sixth with a time of 12.56.

200M

WOMEN – Senior Reynei Wallace won with a time of 24.52 while senior Seven Simms placed fifth with a time of 25.26. Freshmen JahQueen McClellan placed eighth with a time of 25.74 while Jaemari Allen placed 10th with a time of 26.02.

400M

WOMEN – Seniors Reynei Wallace won with a time of 56.36 while Mahogany Mobley placed second with a time of 57.52 and Seven Simms was third with a time of 57.60. Graduate student Katelyn Hutchison finished fourth with a time of 58.41 while freshman JahQueen McClellan was fifth with a time of 58.48.

MEN –

400mH

WOMEN – Freshmen Ava Alexander won with a personal best time of 1:00.13 while Emmi Scales finished second with a time of 1:01.12 and Aliyah Allen placed third with a time of 1:04.40. It marks the first event win in Alexander’s career.

JUMPS & THROWS

LONG JUMP

WOMEN – Freshman Julia Gunnell placed third with a mark of 15’9”/4.80 meters.

MEN – Junior Donsten Brown placed second with a mark of 21’3.75”/6.66 meters while freshman Samuel Reagan placed fourth with a mark of 21’6.25”/6.56 meters.

HIGH JUMP

MEN – Freshman Devin Sealey won with a mark of 6’6”/1.98 meters. It marks Sealey’s first career event win.

TRIPLE JUMP

WOMEN – Freshman Asha Pierre-Antoine won with a mark of 37’7.25”/11.46 meters. It marks Pierre-Antoine’s first career event win.

JAVELIN THROW

WOMEN – Junior Ariel Pedigo won with a personal best mark of 139’2”/42.42 meters that ranks sixth on the UK all-time performers list while freshman Julia Gunnell placed third with a mark of 117’3”/35.75 meters.
